Evolving Industry, Evolving EHRs

Allscripts has been delivering Electronic Health Records (EHRs) since long before government incentives, value-based care and community exchanges. Now that the industry is evolving, so must we. Otherwise, we won’t continue to meet the needs of our clients.

So we’re taking action to provide solutions that we believe will help our clients to succeed in this ever-changing industry. Allscripts is offering a free upgrade program to migrate all MyWay clients to a new converged platform that leverages the Professional Suite.

This enhanced platform provides tools that can help providers deliver better patient outcomes, help enable our clients to be community-ready as well as ICD10 compliant and also include plans for MU2 certification. These free upgrades will enable us to deliver a converged clinical platform that we believe delivers the best of both solutions.

And, by focusing our investment on a single EHR for small and mid-sized practices, we can deliver innovations faster. Innovations like Allscripts Wand™, our native iPad solution, which works with the Professional Suite and is getting rave reviews from clients.

I know the word “upgrade” makes most people groan. But I also believe it’s worth it. Earlier versions of Windows and Mac OS were great, but aren’t you glad you upgraded to better features? And, we’re committed to making the process as easy as possible by following best practices and tested, established protocols. The free upgrades will include toolkits, templates and simulation based training.

Best of all, the upgrade will immediately deliver key benefits of our Professional Suite:

  • Powerful Practice Management
  • Robust Analytics
  • Community Connectivity, and
  • Mobile Access.

The bottom line is that if we don’t change with the industry, we risk leaving our valued clients without the tools they need to help them meet their goals of delivering the best patient outcomes and meet government regulations. And that’s a risk we’re not willing to take.

We just signed with Allscripts as subscribers to MyWay version 10.1. Will we also be able to upgrade for free as well? Where can we find more information about this upgrade and the professional suite package as well?

Will MyWay continue to be sold as a stand-alone product?

What prompted the decision to end product support for MyWay?

About how many providers will be affected?

What will happen to Allscripts staff previously assigned to MyWay?

Does your site have a contact page? I’m having trouble locating it but, I’d like to send you an e-mail.
I’ve got some creative ideas for your blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great website and I look forward to seeing it improve over time.

Hi Cliff…we recognize that you are attempting to do a good thing…but the Allscripts Community, particularly MyWay has been through several “upgrades” already. These experiences have been ones not worth repeating. The last one with MediNotes was extremely challanging. This is one that I would prefer not going through.

In this “upgrade”, are the CPPs going to be converted to templates? As the “Pro” does not have “intelligent mapping”…how are the nuances of the Provider going to be updated when he/she changes their procedures? Are all the Lab Interfaces going to be included in this “upgrade”…for free?

We wish you the best…but there is a big difference between MyWay and Professional. Going forward what will be the “new” price structure?

Will maintenance and support plans / costs remain the same for people moving up to Professional?

Hi Barrie,

I’m sorry to hear about your previous upgrade experiences. In preparation for significant changes in healthcare such as Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements and ICD-10 coding standards as well as enablement of advanced clinical decision support at the point of care, population health management and patient engagement tools, advancements to your current Allscripts platform are required. This upgrade is imperative in order to better prepare your organization for these changes. In regards to the clinical templates, we’re taking a different approach that we have found most migrating customers would prefer to adopt. The Pro EHR system has a highly effective template approach that is found more preferable by most customers.

Regarding your question on the “new” price structure, please email your question to ProUpgradeQuestions@allscripts.com and someone will be able to provide an answer.

Hi Mohammad,

Yes, clients in the midst of an implementation will receive a call from their project manager within the next 48-72 hours. You can register for a number of product demonstrations on ClientConnect https://clientconnect.allscripts.com or submit an email to ProUpgradeQuestions@allscripts.com. Allscripts will also provide additional FAQs as needed on ClientConnect and product documentation for the Professional Suite is also available.

Will we be able to upload all current patient chart information into the Allscripts Pro system seamlessly? After such an effort getting info into MyWay after having it for just a year, I dread the thought of having to somehow manually segway into another EHR……

Hi Andrew, your rates will stay the same as what is defined in your current Allscripts MyWay agreement for the term of the agreement.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your comment. See below for the answers to your questions.

Will MyWay continue to be sold as a stand-alone product?
We will continue to support MyWay for the duration of current client contracts and on a go forward basis will be selling the converged ProSuite into the small physician segment.

What prompted the decision to end product support for MyWay?
We’re continuing to support all clients to the terms of each of their leases. The healthcare industry is changing rapidly due to increasing regulatory pressures and shifting payment models. With a move to accountable care, community enablement, advanced analytics as well as a focus on population health, it’s important for us to advance our portfolio to evolve with the future of healthcare and this new market opportunity. As we work to converge the MyWay and Professional EHR solutions, we’re focused on our first strategic imperative – to improve client experience. With one Allscripts Community EHR, we will take the best of our knowledge and skills and apply it to our future and that of our clients.

About how many providers will be affected?
We’ll work with all Allscripts MyWay clients (approximately 4,000) to upgrade to the Professional Suite.

What will happen to Allscripts staff previously assigned to MyWay?
The same team members supporting you today will be part of the new Allscripts Professional Support team. They are planning to migrate right along with our clients.

Cliff, we call allscripts daily to find out how to upgrade to professional from myway, and do not get a call back. we are taking in a new physician in 3 weeks, and have been trying to arrange to migrate HIE e-clinical EMR data with ours, and no luck getting a call back, seems to me we should upgrade first, then migrate HIE data? please help!! thank you so much!

Barrie C Fitz-Gerald, Ph.D. asked previously about whether existing lab interfaces to MyWay that offices have already implemented would automatically be carried over to Allscripts Professional. Cliff, you never answered that portion of his question. It is crucial to know whether the hard work already done by these offices, the lab staff, and MyWay staff will need to be repeated and at what cost. Please provide a response to this question ASAP!

Cliff Meltzer says:

Hi LDSTIRLING,

Thanks for your comment. Allscripts will provide the interfaces licenses for any labs that are contracted with Allscripts and will include the services for the Allscripts side of the services – there may be fees associated with lab side of the interface.
